I began practicing yoga over 18 years ago while studying and working in the field of Recreation, Leisure and Fitness. During this time I was looking for an outlet to keep me from feeling overwhelmed with the demands of school and work. Everything felt so fast paced and I was searching for something peaceful that would keep me grounded and focused. I made a trip to the library and stumbled across Rodney Yee’s Yoga book “ Moving Toward Balance” . I brought it home and began my first yoga practice. I felt alive and rejuvenated and I knew yoga would become part of my everyday life!
My background experience was the development and management of a number of recreation and fitness programs. Over the years I had worked as Program Coordinator for City of Ottawa Recreation programs, Project Coordinator for the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS), and Program Coordinator for Dovercourt Recreation Association. During these foundational years I continued practicing yoga to maintain a balanced lifestyle. I loved all aspects of yoga so much that I went on to pursue teaching and share my love for yoga with others.
This led me to my teacher trainings and certifications in Hatha Yoga, Somayog (therapeutic style), Yoga Dance, Yoga for Children and Youth. I have been teaching yoga throughout the City of Ottawa in Yoga studios, Community Health and Resource centres, YMCA/YWCA, Ottawa School Board, Conferences, Fitness Centres, Hotels, Private Residences and Outdoor Parks.
Teaching over the years has brought me to a place of real happiness and joy. The love I have for my work has allowed me to focus my energy on helping lead other women and children towards a lifestyle of good health and overall well-being.
I feel so fortunate to be able to connect and share my experience and passion for yoga, health and wellness with others!
